In the first weekend of triathlon, and there have been two major competitions and it demonstrates the acceptance test are in Catalonia. On Sunday May 1, 2011 in Banyoles was the Long Distance Triathlon VIII with a tour of 2200mts of swimming, 80km cycling and 20km of track. Nearly 500
enrolled had this competition, with victory for Xavier Reus torrades Ploms Swimming Club in the men and Nuria Pubill Triathlon Club Sant Joan de les Abadesses in the female category.
The Sitges Swimming Club took part in 5 triathletes: Alex Altes, Enric Buch, Albert Guiluz, Marcos Fernandez and Toni Casablancas, the latter was the winner for the second consecutive year in the Veterans Category 2.
